View Thread Suggestion

I just have a suggestion. I would love to have the ability in the Preferences area to select whether or not to show Member Info, Member Activity and Request Information in threads/posts.
Really it would not be all that hard to add and could be helpful for users that have slow connections.

You could even go with an option to show the default xmb post style or xmbg post style. This would take a little more time to do and you’d need to add a template where as the other wouldn’t. Regardless it’s just a suggestion nothing more.

That is a good suggestion scan. Unfortunately with only one developer on site (as another site seems to hog them all) I've got him on more priority projects along with server administration. We can't even get to our list of hack requests that's been backlogged for months. But I'll keep this in mind for sure. Maybe after we get some of our other projects out of the way and are a bit more settled in with the new server and the operations of it I can get him on this. Thanks for suggesting it! :thanks:

It's cool I really didn't take any offence by it. Truth be told I’m on great then T1 connect 80% of the time and just under T1 connect 15%. The other 5% of the time I’m traveling so I’m on my aircard that gets about ISDN speeds.

This option would not just help the people on dialup or slower connection. It would also allow members that would just prefer not to have to scroll through that info unless they want to. You know all that info is in your profile so if someone wanted to know it they could look without having to read it in every post. It would also help cut down on the sites bandwidth usage a little.

Most people think of dialup as 56kb modem that is running up to 52 but most the time 36 - 48. Truth is some people have 28kb connections and slower. So of the older cell connections are 16 - 24 so that is a good deal slower then dialup.
But you’re correct in pointing it out, as that was not the intent in which I wanted to use it. I had meant slower connections as a more generalize statement to sum up a few faster then dialup type connections that are now considered slower connections.
eg. ShotGun Dialup, ISDN “both”, AirCards, Some Satellite’s, poor or bad DSL lines, ect.
