We are pleased to announce the release of XMB 1.9.8 Engage Pre-Final. This release addresses many bug fixes and security issues. Even though it is
marked as a pre-release, it is safe for production environments.
It is recommended that you update as soon as possible. 1.9.8 Engage Pre-Final can be downloaded here: http://download.xmbforum.com/
Please read the included documentation located in the Documentation folder of the download package before proceeding with an installation or
upgrade.
Changelog
No changelog information is availible for 1.9.8 Engage. 1.9.8's codebase is based on John Briggs' 1.9.5 SP 1, not 1.9.7 RC 3. John's Briggs' 1.9.5
SP 1 incorporated a multitude of bug and security fixes.
The following primary changes were made:
# New poll system
# Validation routines
# Mass moderation
# CAPTCHA integratin
# MySQL 5 compatibility
Minimum Requirements
XMB has a few minimum requirements which must be met before installation.
# A web server or hosting account with support for PHP
# MySQL version 3.00 or above (MySQL 5 fully supported)
# PHP 4.2.0+ (Versions prior to 4.3.4 are not recommended) with MySQL support
# GD support is required for use of the CAPTCHA system
I must say I'm glad to see this final released. However, I WILL NOT be supporting this version just yet until a substantial number of modifications
are available and I've had some time to get familiar with it. It is available, though, in the Download Center. But support for it for now will have
to be obtained through the main xmb site. I will post an announcement on a future date when it will be fully supported here at XMB Garage.
PLEASE DO NOT U2U ME FOR GENERAL SUPPORT ISSUES!!!
