NEW! Total Header Links Control with Dropdown Menu

XMBGarage is pleased to announce the immediate release of Drop Down Menus with Header Link Control v1.0

One of the more frequent requests we've received here is an easier way to manage the header links of XMB. A lot of users also want to have drop down menus for extra links. But this involves using messy DHTML scripts and usually ends up destroying your header template and renders the header.php file useless as far as doing the job they are designed to do which also makes future hack installs difficult. This hack aims to solve these problems.

This hack, which has been in development for over a year, completely rewrites how XMB handles the header links. Combined with the header link control hacks written by Adam Clarke, not only can you change the number of links displayed, and how they're separated with a separator of your choosing, or turn the link images on or off, but you can create "sub-links" for each major header link, which will automatically create a drop down menu containing these links when you mouseover the appropriate header link.

Example below:

All links can be turned on or off, re-ordered, re-arranged, etc. all from one convenient and easy to use admin panel.

This hack is one of the best things to come along in a long time for xmb. And I, personally, as an installer welcome the release of this hack. Now there's no reason to butcher the header templates and rendering the header.php file useless as far as what it's supposed to do regarding the header links.

For those of you who don't like the link images, now there's no reason to rip the coding out of the header.php file. Just turn them off in the admin panel.

Want to use a link separator of your choosing? - * | //, etc. Then all you have to do is input what you want and voila! your links are separated with the symbol of your choosing.

Want to add new header links? Well now there's no more adding them to the header.php file. The admin panel for this hack is set up similar to that of the forums and how they are created making it a snap to add new header links.

Want to have dropdown menus with sub-links? No problem! Just create one in the admin panel the same way you'd add a sub-forum in the forums manager and select the main link you want it to go under.

We have done an update to this hack. It now has the ability to let you choose who can see the links in the header array. If you have downloaded this hack and are using it you will need to redo the parts for cp.php and functions.php.

This hack is neat! I used to want to put a drop down in my mb's header. But alas I don't have enough links for it at the moment. Maybe in a few weeks I'll put this script to use. =]

Hack links will have to be added back in. The default links are automatically added when the hack is installed. And since you have the old header links hack installed that has to be uninstalled first including the changes to the database.
