Board Upgrades - New Prices

Board upgrades to 1.9.5 are now $10.00.

Get your board upgraded for $10.00.

As of January 1, 2006 there will be no more installations for 1.9.1 as we will only be supporting 1.9.3 mainly for board and hack installations. We will also only provide minimal support for 1.9.1. This means if you don't upgrade and you have problems with your 1.9.1 board you will be permitted to post for support in the General Support Forums. If the problem cannot be fixed quickly within a couple of posts you will then be directed to the Help Desk where you can submit a support ticket and we will fix your board for a small fee. The fee will be determined by a formula based on $4 per 15 minute increments. This is down $1 from the original cost. Most repairs usually don't take very long unless there a whole string of problems. But usually they can be fixed in 30 minutes or less. Upon receiving the support ticket your problem will be assessed and an estimate will be given to you for you to then decide if you want to proceed with the repairs.

It is in your best interest to upgrade as 1.9.3 fixes many bugs and security issues that aren't in 1.9.1 and 1.9.2. We also recommend that if you are already using 1.9.3 to not continue installing 1.9.1 hacks. XMBG and XMBX are currently in the process of upgrading all the current 1.9.1 hacks to be more secure and compliant with 1.9.3.

These fixes have been provided by XMBXtreme and are implemented into our download.

This is just to remind everyone that as of January 1 the hacks for 1.9.1 will be discontinued and support for 1.9.1 will be limited to the General Support forum only and will be tended to on a case by case basis. It is strongly suggested you upgrade to 1.9.3 if you wish to have installations done or obtain hacks. It's just the upgrade to 1.9.3 which has been out for about a month now. If you follow instructions then no it's not really hard to do yourself. But there always seems to be some people who can't do it. So it's really a matter of how much you trust your ability to do such things.

Don't we all? But it's better to have a safe board than one with security holes and bugs. Plus all the hacks are being updated as well to be equally compatible with 1.9.3 as a lot of the hacks have errors or poor coding or mistakes in general. And some are being enhanced with added features if we see they could use it.

For board upgrades, do you have to pay before or after the upgrade is installed? Because I would like to upgrade my board, but it will take a few days to get the money from my bank account into my Paypal account.

Also, I have a LOT of hacks as well as custom hacks on my forums, and I read in the documentation for upgrading to 1.9.3 that these files could be erased. I just want to make sure: is it possible to upgrade, but still keep all of my hacks/custom hacks in tact?

I prefer to have payment before I do the work. A standard upgrade will erase all hack data from the files and templates but not the database. I could do a manual upgrade for you but that's considerably more expensive as it takes several hours to do. But at least your hacks would be spared. However, it is strongly recommended that any 1.9.1 be updated that can be updated as soon as possible.

So what you're saying is that I would have to redo ALL of the hacks, but the information would still be there? What about hacks I paid to have you guys install? They would have to be reinstalled?

In short answer, yes. Unless you want me to do a manual upgrade. That will preserve all the hack data in the files and templates. But, as I said, it's more expensive as it will take many hours to do. And if you want any current 1.9.1 hacks (not custom ones) updated then, yes, it would be the same as having them reinstalled. And as for any hacks you have paid to have installed, I just looked at your record and the last time we installed anything for you was on August 1 which was about a month before we went paid.
